James Greco is a New York based painter and sculptor whose work is widely collected in both Europe and the United States. Using traditional oil paints, epoxy resins, house paints, and other mixed media, his abstract variations range from small explorations on paper to large scale paintings. He lives and works in Brooklyn, NYC and has work available in his studio for viewing by apppointment. Commission based work is also provided upon request.

Friends, families, and everyone are welcome! Please join us at SHAKTI Vinyasa Yoga West on the 2nd Saturday of each month for our Ballard Art Walk opening reception. Each month we feature unique, talented local artists showing a variety of media including photography, collage, woodblock prints, oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings. Since this artwork is for sale and reasonably priced, it is a great way to add new color and interest to your life. The artwork is on display for the month so you can come view it at your leisure if you happen to miss the 2nd Saturday reception.

The purpose of the Global Mala is to unite the global yoga community from every continent, school or approach to form a "mala around the earth" through collective practices based upon the sacred cycle of 108 on Sept. 19th or 20th, Fall Equinox as the yoga world's offering to further the UN International Peace Day.

The Global Mala event is dedicated to practice or to practice and seva - service by integrating local action, and raising funds for charities. Shakti Vinyasa Yoga will be donating all proceeds to one global cause, Trees for the Future, and one local cause, Big Brothers, Big Sisters of the Puget Sound.

Since 1989, Trees for the Future has been helping communities around the world plant trees. Through seed distribution, agroforestry training, and our country programs, they have empowered rural groups to restore tree cover to their lands. Planting trees protects the environment and helps to preserve traditional livelihoods and cultures for generations. Learn more...

 

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound is the largest mentoring organization in Washington State, serving over 2,600 children annually in King, Pierce, Kitsap, Jefferson and Clallam counties. Steve Gold has been composing songs and playing music since the age of 16 when he joined Curtis Mathewson (Train - producer) and Dean Butterworth (drums for Ben Harper) in the 80's band Des Nouveau. Steve worked with the legendary Malcolm McLaren (manager and creator of the Sex Pistols) from 1984-1986 in Los Angeles at CBS Records. The time at CBS Studios yielded 4 tunes that were sold to surf legend Herbie Fletcher for use in one of the first surfing videos, Wave Warriors. The video has enjoyed worldwide distribution for over 20 years. During the past two decades, Steve has collaborated on projects with Wayne Horvitz (producer -Bill Frisell) and Seattle based producer Bubba Jones. He has also been a member of Seattle's blues scene in The Midnight Ramblers. In 2002, Steve began studying voice with the late Maestro David P. Kyle. Shortly thereafter he became associated with yogic chanters, Deva Premal and Miten. This began a new chapter in Steve's singing career as he began to lead chanting worldwide at yoga studios, retreats and spiritual centers. Steve recently completed recording the album "So Much Magnificence". The title track of the same name is included on Shiva Rea's new CD/DVD "Yoga Sol". Steve currently sings regularly for Shiva Rea at Exhale in Los Angeles and for Lisa Black at Shakti Vinyasa in Seattle. More information about Steve...
