Pranayama means mastering our life force or energy. Prana is the life force that flows throughout nature. When prana is flowing effortlessly throughout our body and mind, we feel energetic, vibrant and clear. We can invoke prana through various breathing techniques. Pratyahara is the process of withdrawing our senses from the world and tuning into our subtle sensory experiences so that we can hear our inner voice more clearly. These sensory elements are known as the Tanmatras. The five tanmatras are sound, touch, sight, taste and smell. By paying attention to these external senses, we can begin to eliminate those that are toxic and encourage those that are nurturing. During this workshop, we will explore various pranayama techniques to balance and clear the body/mind and experience a sensory guided meditation. Lecture, pranayama, asana and meditation.
