SHAKTI EAST is happy to announce
our Massage Therapy Program
Featuring Sara Akerlund, LMP

• Feeling sore after a yoga class?
• Are your shoulders holding tension and stress?
• Is your lowback feeling achy?
• Do you need to just let yourself unwind?
Massage/Bodywork can be a great compliment to your yoga practice because it releases restrictions in your body that allow you to feel more comfortable in or fully express a pose. By nurturing and relaxing your spirit, massage not only helps to restore balance into your physical body and yoga practice, but into your life as well. You may find limitations in your body or poses that your body resists, this will not resolve by practicing more yoga alone. Massage can help to identify the restriction or imbalance and access the muscles and fascial system in an entirely different way than your yoga practice. Many people find that with a combination of yoga and massage their body is able to “self-adjust”. More importantly, massage brings awareness to your body’s imbalances, restrictions, and patterns of compensation that have set in over the years, and by addressing these issues on the table you may find yourself feeling more open or able to hold your poses a little longer on the mat.
Take the time you deserve to nurture your
mind and body with a therapeutic, yet deeply relaxing massage
at SHAKTI EAST. Our massage therapist, Sara
Akerlund has been practicing massage for several years
in a clinical setting. She is able to treat many physical
ailments and at the same time offer a wonderfully nurturing
touch to calm your mind and body.
Step in stressed and leave refreshed.

Sara
Akerlund- Massage Therapist, SHAKTI EAST
Sara has been doing massage for the last 4 years
and loves being a part of the
healing process in people's lives. "Not only do I love
making people feel
better, but through massage I am able to reintroduce my clients
to parts of
their bodies that have been ignored or neglected, and teach
them how to take
better care of themselves."
After four years of working in a physical therapy clinic,
Sara's work has become
very theraputic and treatment oriented. Her deep tissue massage
is a combination of slow, broad myofasical stretches, direct
pressure and swedish massage techniques. She also practices
Craniosacral therapy, a gentle technique used to reslease
restrictions in the body by accessing the Craniosacral system;
comprised of membranes and cerobrospinal fluid, which bathe
the spinal cord and brain. Craniosacral enhances the functioning
of this system, and is very helpful with conditions such as
severe headaches, chronic neck and back pain, and TMJ.
Sara attended Brenneke School of Massage in Seattle, graduating
in 2002. Since
then she have taken several continuing education course, including
Craniosacral I and II at Bastyr University.
