YOGA CLASSES - LEVELS

LEVEL 1.0
Designed for beginners or students new to Power Vinyasa Yoga. You will learn the basic alignment and form of the 53 postures that compose the 90 minute Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga practice. Yoga philosophy and helpful breathing techniques that inspire and empower you on and off your mat are also taught and explored. Each class progressively builds on the previous one, preparing students to understand the progression of the 11 part series within the Baptiste flow. Many people enjoy taking the INTRO Series many times in order to soak up all the information and apply the knowledge to their practice. Demonstration, discussion, personal hands-on adjustments, and guided practice, provide you with a solid foundation of this dynamic style of yoga.

LEVEL 1.5
A slower paced, modified Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga sequence. The instructors offer the modified variations for all of the postures throughout the practice, and students are invited to work at their own levels. This class is the perfect next step for people who have completed the Intro series or for practitioners new to Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga. Each class may include a short “posture clinic” with detailed information about a focus asana.

LEVEL 2
These strong, steady-paced classes flow through the complete, traditional Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga sequence. The instructors offer modifications and variations throughout the class so that students of all levels can experience a deep and meaningful practice.

LEVEL 2-3
Created in 2003 by Lisa Black as her signature style, SHAKTI is a dynamic, fluid, vinyasa yoga sequence that is based on Shiva Rea’s "Mandala Namaskar." We will use rotating sun salutations as the main structure for the class where we face the front, back, and both sides of the mat. Within this dynamic flow, we explore creative variations of powerful standing postures, arm balances, twists, back bends and hip openers. While surfing your edge, we support each other in playful inversions that leave you empowered! Be prepared to sweat, have fun, and explore your practice in a new way. This class is Level 2-3 and is appropriate for anyone with at least six months or more of vinyasa yoga practice.

SHAKTI LEVEL 3
Created and founded in 2003 by Lisa Black, this powerful style combines many elements of the vinyasa yoga tradition including philosophy, chanting, music, pranayama (breath regulation), standing postures, arm balancing, back bending, inversions, hip opening, and relaxation. This style incorporates philosophy, postures, and sequencing influenced by master teachers Baron Baptiste, Shiva Rea, and Ana Forrest. Classes are based on the central theme of “wave-like” fluidity and multi-directional sequencing using a circular sun saluation or “mandala namaskara.” The dynamic pulse and creative movements will challenge your mind and body and leave you feeling free and uplifted. Pre-requisite: Intermediate postures and sequencing--students should have at least 6 months experience with vinyasa yoga.
